What happens here…stays here…at least the part you can’t remember.

Vegas. City of Lights. City of Sin. Just about everywhere you look there are people indulging in sins. Every piece of clothing in my luggage smelled like marlboro reds, and I don’t even smoke. People putting hundreds of dollars into slot machines thinking Blazing 7s is going to make them rich. And I wonder, are they just like me? In Vegas to gamble (sin) and have fun? Or are they Nevada residents dwindling their hard earned money away feeding an addiction (sin). One thing is for sure, I did play a lot of slots, but I can’t bear to feed the machine enough for it to pay me back, if in fact it does. Walking on the streets one tends to look up at the flashing lights and beauty of the sculpture and architecture of the strip, but if one looks down on the sidewalk their stepping on, they’ll realize once again what goes on in the cover of darkness. Business cards and ads of completely naked women advertising God knows what, because only the true sinner would be bold enough to pick one up in front of hundreds of people walking by, to take a look. If one stays tucked in the strip, you’ll have a good family time. But once you pass the Fashion Mall, its all down hill from there. Beggars, homeless, trash everywhere, hookers, and I haven’t gotten downtown yet. But lets turn back around to where the action is. It’s about 40° f outside, and women are wearing short skirts and dresses. But, if you have enough alcohol in your system, it should keep you nice and toasty. However, I did have enough alcohol in my system, and yet I couldn’t keep my nose from completely turning to ice.

Traveling Back in Time….and Forward….and Back….

So when one has had enough sin, they look to Hoover Dam to wash them clean again. I was disappointed by the fact that the Nevada/Arizona line drawn on the pavement had disappeared and only a placard on the bridge remained. But it was fun to jump across the imaginary line, getting one hour older, then one hour younger again. When you look down at the massive dam, you can’t help but wonder… is Megatron really down there? One thing is for sure, the city of Rapture clearly is. Straight out of the game, the weathered bronze sculptures tower above and dominate the area. With placards remembering fellowmen who died building the dam, ( or went to the city of Rapture and never came back ). But with all tourist attractions it’s never really peaceful and you end up just shooting photographs instead of really taking in all the beauty. There are SO many people it’s hard to stop and view a spot when everyone around you is buzzing by.

This part always happens…..

It’s a sure thing that whenever you go somewhere for the first time, or once before a few years back, you’ll need to go again. For one, you can explore new areas, because in Vegas, walking around for 4 days straight doesn’t even let you see half of the strip. Two, it’s known that you’re going to miss out on some shows, and want to see others over and over, like Madame Tussaud’s or American Superstars. Finally number 3, if you can still walk a straight line, you clearly have not enjoyed all Vegas has to offer.
